The people of Zia UMC

 

 

Local Missions:

  • Mentor young people coming out of Juvenile Detention through Parole Empowerment Partners (PEP)
  • Community Closet – collecting slightly used or new Men’s clothing
  • Collect canned and boxed food labels from General Mills products for McCurdy School in Espanola
  • Donate quilts and bears to those ill or medically fragile, including children
  • Make and donate quilts to service men and women in hospitals
  • Donate supplies and clothing for Agua Fria Elementary School in Santa Fe
  • Provide Pharmaceuticals for the Healthy Tomorrow's Van
  • Work on local Habitat for Humanity Projects
  • Help to build local park at Pueblo Del Sol in Santa Fe
  • Clean Richards Avenue as part of County Road project
  • Provide the McFadden scholarship at SF Community College
  • Participate in the Interfaith Community Shelter Group winter shelter program for homeless men, women & children
  • We are a Safe Haven facility
  • Christmas Angels that provide gifts and goodies to low-income children

 Food Ministries:

  • First Sunday of each month, we collect food for St. John UMC's food pantry
  • Second Thursday, we prepare and deliver dinner to St. Elizabeth's shelter
  • Work at the Food Depot, delivering food to various food pantries
  • Provide family dinners at Thanksgiving and Christmas (5 and 9 respectively)
  • Put together and distribute Baggies of Food for our friends in need (the Homeless).

 Prison Ministries:

  • Visitation: weekly visits to the State Penitentiary for Bible Study and prayer, as well as yearly Christmas Caroling at the State Penitentiary

  • Kairos: a weekend long spiritual journey for the women at Grants
